Джакарта. Земетресение с магнитуд 6,6 по Рихтер разтърси индонезийския остров Сулавеси, предаде агенция Ройтерс. Епицентърът на земния трус е бил на около 56 км югоизточно от Палу на остров Сулавеси.

До момента няма данни за пострадали и нанесени материални щети.
От Американския тихоокеански център за предупреждение съобщиха, че земетресението не е станало причина за опустошително цунами.

(Reuters) - A 6.2 magnitude earthquake with a relatively shallow depth hit Sulawesi island in centralIndonesia on Monday, officials in the region said.

Reports from the area said the quake occurred 55 km (33 miles) southeast of the town of Kendari and likely struck the tip of the island.

Officials said the tremor was strongly felt in Kendari and an aftershock of 5.2 was recorded soon after to the east of the town.

There was no indication whether a tsunami warning had been issued, but many small islands in the area would be at risk from a strong quake.

The United States Geological Survey said the quake occurred at 7:07 p.m. EDT, 67 miles east of Baubau at a relatively shallow depth of 6.2 miles. It later adjusted the depth to 5.8 miles.
